Liability waiver
Fill in the fields and the waiver takes shape alongside, with who is taking responsibility, for what act or activity, and for how long. Available in Portuguese, English or Spanish. When you are done, print it, and your browser's print dialog offers save as PDF.
Three steps, nothing to install.
Everything runs on your own computer, start to finish.
Identify who is taking responsibility
Name, tax number and contact for the signer, and who the waiver is given to. A waiver without both parties identified proves less than it should.
Describe the subject and the term
For what act, item or activity responsibility is taken, and for how long. The more concrete the subject, the more the document is worth.
Print or save
The waiver is already finished alongside. Hit generate and pick your printer, or save as PDF from the print dialog itself.
What it actually does
It does three things worth having: it records who answers for what, it proves the person was informed of the risks or conditions, and it dates that moment. None of this is small, and it is usually what settles an argument. What it does not do is erase liabilities the law does not allow to be erased.
Informing is half the work
A waiver signed by someone who did not understand what they were signing is worth little. Describing the activity, the concrete risks and the conditions in plain language is what makes the document useful, and that is the part written into the subject field.
Minors and third parties
Where the waiver concerns a minor, the signer is whoever holds parental responsibility, and that should be written down. A waiver signed by the minor does not bind, and neither does one signed by an adult who is not responsible for them.
It does not replace insurance
Anyone running an activity with risk often has a legal duty to insure, and always a practical interest in it. A signed waiver does not pay for treatment or compensation; insurance does. They add up, they do not substitute for each other.
It does not replace licences or sector rules
Gyms, schools, sports activities, construction and transport each carry their own safety and licensing requirements. A waiver dispenses with none of them, and a waiver used to sidestep one makes the position of whoever asked for it worse.
It is a generic template, not legal advice
Written from common Portuguese practice. Activities with significant physical risk, involving minors or open to the public deserve review by someone who knows the field, and almost always insurance on top. The document carries that warning printed in the footer.
Questions about the liability waiver.
If they sign, am I free of liability?
No. You hold proof that you informed them and that they accepted the conditions, which is a great deal. But liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence cannot be contracted away, and against a consumer the law protects them even from what they signed.
Does it work for lending equipment?
It works well, and is one of the commonest uses: it identifies the item, the condition it was handed over in, the term and who answers for it. Describe the equipment with its serial number where there is one.
Does the signature need witnessing?
As a rule no. If the organisation receiving it requires witnessing, that is done in person and cannot be added afterwards.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Each document costs one euro, as a one-off purchase: you pay for that document and there is no monthly fee. The account is created by magic link, with no password. The declaration opens without paying, one a day.
Need it clear who answers?
Write it down.
